Clover Food Truck (Boston)

I'll be the first to admit it, I've knocked this place before. Vegetarian and delicious rarely go into the same sentence for me. When you tell me you have a special formula for the "b" in your blt sandwich, you lose my interest. But before I caught my flight out to pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago I was starving and this was the only place open on my way to south station- so I went for it and ordered the Chickpea fritter.

It was good, different, but good. If you're hoping the chickpea fritter pita will taste like a falafel it's a huge disappointment, but if you look at it as a chickpea sandwich with slaw, it's pretty delicious. Everything tasted extremely fresh and although I was full at the end of it, it didn't sit like a brick in my stomach the way food usually does.

My only complaint? I like a hot/cold contrast so I was hoping the chickpea fritters would hot against the cold slaw, but instead everything was cold.

I'll probably never try fabricated meat here, but I might stop by for a quick bite once in awhile.

Chick Fil-A

I know I once argued that Taco Bell was the best fast food I had encountered. I retract that statement and put this forth. Chick Fil-A is the best chain fast food I have ever had.

I was enticed to go to Pittsburgh this weekend by Joe with the promise of Chick Fil-A. So after spending 2 hours in Logan Airport and an hour and half in the air, Joe picked me up and off to Chick Fil-A we went for dinner. Nothing quite hits the spot like a Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Waffle Fries! The chicken sandwich is so flavorful and juicy, the lettuce is fresh, pickles are crunchy and a great contrast, and the roasted honey bbq sauce (you have to ask for this) is just so sweet and delicious. 

Joe prefers the classic fried chicken sandwich, but trust me on the grilled chicken sandwich. It hits the spot without making you feel like you're clogging your arteries.

Oh Chick Fil-A, how I miss you already. Why can't you be more easily accessible in Boston?

Tasty Burger- Boston

This place has been in the works for awhile in Fenway. Having walked by it a hundred times while it was still being built, I was psyched when I saw that it was open. Depite the dinner date/plans I had already made for the night, I had to try it out.
What a disappointment. I tried the Spicy Jalapeno burger with fries (ran me about $10) which was not spicy at all. In fact all I could really taste was the mayo. The patties tasted underseasoned and it wasn't juicy at all. The fries were ok, nothing special. There are signifcantly better fries in the burger world. If I want a burger I'd pas on "Tasty" (or not so tasty...) and just walk the extra quarter-mile to UBurger.
I'd note that on yelp someone commented that it was like In-n-out meets five guys. That person has clearly never been to In-n-Out, because In-n-Out is actually good enough for me to crave it when I'm in LA.
This one get's an obvious thumbs down from me.

KFC Double Down and Doublicious

For dinner tonight Joe and I decided to head over to KFC because we were both craving something unhealthy after a long day. Now I haven't been to KFC in awhile so I couldn't pass on trying the famed double down and doublicious. I copped out a little by getting a grilled double down (two fried sandwiches would sure be a night filled of nausea).

Verdict?

I wasn't as grossed out as I had hoped (maybe I should've gone fried). They're not as massive as in the commercials and the bacon is wimpy. I enjoyed the hawaiin bun, which was sweet and delicious but I hated how the american cheese and bland mayo "colonel sauce" was really gross tasting for me. I think I'll stick with the classics next time and do a 3 strip with 2 sides.

Sonic- Just like the 80s

When I heard Sonic was having a free root beer float day, I knew it was finally time for me to make the drive out to one. Accompanied by Amy Wang and Gregory (my GPS), I headed off to discover the mystery of Sonic.

After being led to a Taco Bell by Greg, we spotted Sonic and got excited to that we would finally be losing our Sonic virginity.

So overall, here's my verdict. It was a fun experience with yummy rootbeer floats, but I'd probably never make the effort to go out there again. If it were on my way somewhere I might drop by and pick up a quick snack, but it wouldn't win against the other fast food chains. The burger was mediocre and while I enjoyed the tots, they were amazing. I've heard the drinks are whats worth going for, but with them handing out endless free rootbeer floats it was hard to drink something else.

Good company, interesting experience, mediocre food.

KFC

The Great T-Belll

So, as part of my WWW class, we had to make a really simple 15 second video.

Being a typical fat kid, I did mine on food. The boy and I had an argument last night about which fast-food restaurant was the best. Sticking with my WWP roots, I argued that T-Bell is the best, and therefore made my class video about it.




I could really go for a spicy chicken crunch wrap supreme, no tomatoes, and easy on the sour cream. To go with that, maybe a chicken fiesta bowl--extra sauce...or a baja chicken gordita...no tomatoes.

My mouth is watering just thinking about all those things, with some fire hot sauce.

**edit (4:09 am)** My wonderful roommate bought me one of these spicy chicken crunch wrap supremes...but it was really a downer. Maybe they aren't as good as I sometimes imagine them to be. Or maybe the ones in WWP are just better. It's 4 am and I'm thinking about food...truly the mark of a fat kid.

The Return of the Dunkaccino

So DD (Dunkin` Donuts) has this wonderful drink known as the Dunkaccino. More or less, it's just a blend of hot chocolate and coffee, but nothing hits the spot quite the same way a Dunkaccino does. DD had discontinued my beloved last year and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't find the right combo of hot chocolate to coffee to create the same deliciousness. No fear though...it's back and more delicious than ever.
